What does it mean to be inspired by Nova Scotia?
At the Halifax Convention Centre, it means using over 80 local suppliers and producers from all seven regions of our province as part of our Local Flavours program. This year, with our award-winning culinary team, we launched our Local Flavours Menu for our guests using only the freshest ingredients.
Our handcrafted menu showcases the best of Nova Scotia, from traditional dishes to modern twists on the classics. In our commitment to supporting only the best, and since Nova Scotia’s food and beverage is among the best, we are doing our part to support our communities and local industries. Executive Chef Christophe Luzeux leads our team of culinary of artists who draw inspiration from all corners of the province. Our menu takes guests on a food journey around Nova Scotia: to Java Blend Coffee Roasters in Halifax, JOST Vineyards in Malagash, D’Eon Oysters in Yarmouth, with fresh herbs and vegetables from the Valley, and more. Our Local Flavours menu creates a culinary experience that represents who we are as Nova Scotians.
As we welcome the world to our city, the Halifax Convention Centre has taken the lead in supporting local businesses and showcasing local products. Visitors are in for a treat when they get a taste of Nova Scotian food and drink, and exceptional hospitality.
Since January 2023, the Halifax Convention Centre has served over 115,000 cups of Java Blend Coffee to visitors. "It was a really special moment for us when we were chosen to be the exclusive coffee supplier at the Halifax Convention Centre," said Adam Bose, Co-Owner of Java Blend Coffee Roasters. "We knew that it was a way for us to flourish and it showed a lot of trust and faith in small businesses. It’s really important to support local because, when we do that, it means giving back to the community that we live in.” Watch more below.
In just one year, the Halifax Convention Centre has invested over half a million dollars in our local suppliers, which supports not only the businesses and their employees, but the people and communities that those businesses are in. And it doesn't hurt that Nova Scotia's products are some of the best in North America, with world-renowned seafood offerings, world-class cheeses, specially grown crops, and award-winning wines, like JOST Vineyards. We are so proud of our province and our part in supporting our local communities.
